I was asked to be the photographer for a minimalist WW2 cosplay themed photoshoot in Rye. The only props to be used were the outfit and a vintage Coca Cola bottle from the 1930s.
I consider myself to be anti war, so I'm not one that finds it too appealing to make conflict look happy and attractive to young men and woman, hence the sombre mood for these pictures. Although the public are often sold on action tropes, the reality of war is suffering, disillusionment and struggle.
Anyhow, I won't get too political! My favourite war movie is Hacksaw Ridge which echoes the above sentiments :)
This photo shoot was only an hour, but I think I managed to capture some of the vibe that I was trying to achieve. I've gone for a period drama colour grade on these.
