Sunrise Timelapse at Herne Bay Pier

Updated: May 18, 2022

Eager to test out my new Sigma Sport 150-600mm L mount lens on my Panasonic S5, I set my alarm for a 4am start. A quick coffee and straight into the car for a 5am arrival at Herne Bay. With the help of the app Photopills I planned my position for the sunrise to appear just behind the Heater Skelter of the Pier. After approximately 30 minutes of exposures, set to every 3 seconds I then rendered the clip to 24 frames per second at 4k in camera. Below is a 1080p export from Davinci resolve.

One of my favourite features of the Panasonic S5 is that you can render a Timelapse in camera and keep all the raw files separately. After the render I exported the video straight from camera to my iPhone over wifi, adapter the aspect ratio to 9:16 with the app Lumafusion, uploaded it as an Instagram reel, added some music and it had 2000 views before I was even home! Modern technology eh?! Excellent! For the purpose of this blog, I thought I would also export the original video to Da Vinci resolve and have a closer look on a large monitor. the above is the Davinci render. If you would like to licence this Timelapse or would like to hire me for a bespoke project, please contact me here.
